Main Duties:
The following types of responsibilities are envisioned:
1. Specification, design, implementation, and validation of GNC and FDIR algorithms, to be applied to satellites, launchers, and re-entry vehicles, among others
2. Specification, design, implementation, and validation of AOCS algorithms, to be applied to Earth-observation, interplanetary, and ADR/IOS satellites, among others
The activities involved may include:
1. Model-based design and implementation of GNC/AOCS algorithms
2. Simulator design, implementation, and testing
3. Simulation of dynamic systems
4. Specification and validation of GNC/AOCS solutions
5. Analysis and trade-off of hardware solutions
6. Interface with the overall system team
7. Technical and team management
Education:
Required: A recognized engineering degree (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronic) or a related degree (e.g., Physics, Maths)
Desired: Postgraduate studies (MSc or PhD) with a focus on aeronautical / aerospace engineering and providing a solid background in at least two of the following:
1. Orbital mechanics and atmospheric flight dynamics
2. Classical and robust control techniques (including fixed-structure synthesis, analysis, model predictive control)
3. Navigation/state estimation techniques, such as Kalman filtering
Professional Experience:
Desired: Engineer with at least 1 year of experience in the practical application of the domains relevant to the post (relevant MSc & PhD studies would also be considered). The position will be tailored to the level of experience; additional industrial and/or academic experience would be viewed very positively.
Technical Requirements:
Required: The following capabilities are required for the post:
1. A strong background in control and simulation of dynamic systems
2. Capacity to understand new concepts and apply them to engineering problems
3. Experience with Matlab and Simulink
Desired: The following capabilities are desired for the post:
1. Experience in flight operations in ESA/European programmes
2. Experience in atmospheric flight including GNC for launch vehicles
3. Solid theoretical background in GNC/AOCS
4. Background on Kalman filtering

Good level of English, spoken and written
