Job Description
Principal Teacher – Tracking & Monitoring (Guidance)
Fixed Term until 09/08/2026
Full Time
Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 30 primary schools (26 of which have nurseries), 4 stand-alone nursery schools, 1 special school and special provisions in each locality providing support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from the smallest primary school, with approximately 50 pupils, to the largest secondary with approximately 1600 pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings.
Newbattle High School is a non-denominational secondary school that meets the learning needs of pupils from ages 11 to 18. We have recently moved to our state of the art new building as a Digital Centre of Excellence. Our current roll is 1080 pupils with projections to increase significantly. The school opened June 2018 and currently serves the communities of Mayfield, Easthouses, Newtongrange, Gorebridge, North Middleton, Temple and the surrounding areas.
The school is less than 3 miles by road from the Edinburgh bypass and this is one of the factors that have caused significant amounts of new housing to be built around the community in the last decade, which will lead to a growth in school roll. There are very good public transport links with Edinburgh including the nearby Newtongrange railway station, the Waverley Line that runs from Edinburgh to the Borders.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic professionals who have the vision and energy to sustain and promote the current standards of achievement and ensure the continued development and progress of the school.
INTERVIEW DATE - week commencing 17th March 2025.
