Purpose of the role:
As a Senior Test Engineer at Ceres, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our solid oxide technology by developing and executing comprehensive test plans for verification, validation, and development testing. You will directly contribute to the evolution of our technology by producing high-quality, auditable data in compliance with company quality processes. Working closely with the Test Capability Team, you will ensure test equipment is maintained, optimized, and fit for purpose. Collaboration with the Test Strategy Team and project teams will be essential to understanding objectives and ensuring that tests are conducted rigorously, safely, and within schedule.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Execute test plans for Ceres Solid Oxide technologies.
2. Prepare test stands and platforms for testing.
3. Installation of test pieces on test stands.
4. Develop processes to ensure auditable data is produced and recorded.
5. Review and analyse test data.
6. Produce test reports and present findings and recommendations.
7. Provide accurate timely updates to test management.
8. Lead fault finding, issue investigation and improvement projects.
9. Create work instructions, standard operating procedures and risk assessments.
10. Support the Test Operations Team Lead with test scheduling and planning.
11. Support the Test Capability team with the design and development of test stands.
12. Support the Test Strategy team with the development of test plans.
13. Provide technical leadership to less experienced members of the team.
14. Interface and communicate with internal and external customers and suppliers.
15. Commissioning new systems.
Knowledge and skills required for the role:
1. Several years' post graduate industrial experience
2. BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng level in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or similar
3. Ability to visualise and summarise data, perform basic sense checking, identify inconsistencies and perform basic thermodynamic calculations, e.g. efficiency, simple heat balances.
4. Ability to read and produce technical documents including mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and P&IDs.
5. Ability to plan and manage work packages.
6. Industrial experience ideally gained in a fuel cell/battery company, automotive, aerospace or similar industry.
7. Working knowledge of test automation software, e.g. LabView, PLC, CAN networks.
8. Experience of planning and carrying out testing.
9. Experience of working with hazardous gases.
10. Knowledge of heat transfer, control systems, electronics and instrumentation.
