Are you an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon looking for flexible hours in a thriving, supportive practice? If so, we want to hear from you! With one of their vets moving overseas, this practice is on the lookout for a dedicated vet to join the award-winning team.
About the Practice: For nearly 10 years, this practice has been a pillar of the local community, with a large and loyal client base, providing a wide variety of small animal cases. The modern, purpose-built facility is fully equipped with digital x-ray, dental x-ray, laparoscopy, ultrasound, a comprehensive in-house lab, separate dog, cat, and exotic wards, and a fully equipped operating theatre. They are a locally owned practice with full clinical autonomy and deliver personalized care that truly meets the needs of the community.
The Role: You’ll be joining a dynamic team of three veterinary surgeons, eight qualified veterinary nurses, one trainee veterinary nurse, one veterinary nursing assistant, and four receptionists—all supported by dedicated clinical and admin leaders. The practice runs with three vets per day, offering ample support: two vets consult while one is dedicated to surgery. This structure allows you to focus on what you do best, with plenty of opportunities to develop your skills.
What Makes This Role Unique:
1. Supportive Learning Environment: The practice owner brings over 21 years of experience, with a special focus on medicine. The Head Vet has 24 years of experience. This wealth of knowledge creates a unique environment where you can learn new skills and deepen your expertise.
2. Career Development: Passionate about your growth. With a generous CPD allowance and opportunities for funded certificates, you’ll have every chance to pursue your veterinary interests.
3. Flexible Hours: They understand the importance of work-life balance. Whether you’re looking for part-time hours, weekends only, or a rota that fits your lifestyle, they will try to accommodate your needs. No OOH, 15-minute consults as standard, “catch-up” time built into the diary, protected lunch breaks, and dedicated admin time ensure you can thrive both in and out of the practice.
4. Competitive Salary: Up to £65,000 (FTE) based on experience.
5. Generous Holiday: 6.6 weeks including bank holidays.
6. Enhanced Benefits: Including enhanced sick leave pay, life assurance (4x annual salary), contributory pension scheme, and paid memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS).
7. Work-Life Balance: Flexible working hours, no OOH, and compassionate leave options, including first day at school leave, flying the nest leave, and birthday leave.
What You Can Bring: They are looking for a vet who shares our commitment to high standards and is eager to contribute to our team’s ongoing success. With your experience in surgery and willingness to undergo further training, you’ll help to continue to grow as a practice. They value new ideas and ambition and strive to create an inclusive, supportive, and non-judgmental environment for everyone.
