Locum Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics (Specialist Knee)
We are seeking to appoint a locum Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in soft tissue knee surgery. The post holder will have a recognised fellowship in knee surgery with experience in knee arthroplasty as well as multi-ligament and soft tissue reconstruction, plus competence in general orthopaedic trauma surgery.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate in the general orthopaedic on-call rota, currently 1 in 12 weekends and 1 in 12 weekdays (every third Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) and support the general orthopaedic trauma workload. Candidates for the appointment should have a genuine trauma interest and be willing to work alongside colleagues in the orthopaedic and plastic surgical departments to support the increasing demand for complex ortho-plastic trauma surgery.

Person Specification
Experience
* Evidence of wide experience and high level of competence in T&O.
* Fellowship training in knee surgery to specifically include soft tissue and multi-ligament reconstruction.
* Demonstrates clear, logical thinking / analytical approach.
* Knowledge and application of up-to-date evidence-based practice.
Qualifications
* Possession / within 6 months of possession of CCT in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
* Full GMC registration with licence to practice.
* Demonstrates clarity in written communication.
* Always considers patients' preference when discussing treatment options.
Teaching
* Demonstration of an interest and commitment to teaching.
* Ability to teach clinical skills to trainees and others.
* Enthusiastic and able to inspire others.
Audit and Research
* Experience in and commitment to clinical audit.
Management Experience
* Ability to perform effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to motivate and develop staff.
* Ability and willingness to work within the Trust and NHS performance targets.
* Ability to balance individual requirements against those of the department / Division.
* Commitment to active clinical governance and learning from errors.
