We are looking for a highly motivated, compassionate and caring individual to join our multidisciplinary team in Interventional Radiology Theatres at the QMC site.
This is a part time position 20 hrs a week and if successful you would work as a member of the multidisciplinary team, providing a high standard of care to patients and their carers within the Radiology department.
Following appropriate training and with the indirect supervision of a registered nurse or radiographer you would participate in the treatment and after care of patients undergoing specialised interventional/investigative radiological procedures.
Act as the patient’s advocate ensuring that their best interests are met.
Using the competency framework, carry out basic nursing care of the patient and their daily activities and promote patient safety, comfort, privacy, dignity and confidentiality, reporting any change in condition to the person in charge.
Consider and effectively deploy available resources to achieve safe care.
Ensure that patients are helped to retain dignity and individuality, and act as chaperone when requested.
Use initiative in planning daily and weekly routines, ensuring that delays are minimised by preparing the imaging room and equipment for each new patient.
Make any necessary arrangements for patient transportation using the Radiology IT systems where appropriate.
Carry out the role without the need for constant supervision and direction recognising limitations and seeking supervision when necessary.
Comply with all Trust policies with particular regard to the policies and procedures carried out in the event of maintaining staff and patient safety.
Report all accidents and untoward incidents to the nurse in charge of the area and complete an incident form in accordance with Trust policy.
Report problems with equipment and facilities to the nurse in charge
Be prepared to attend and undertake any necessary training, being aware of the need to develop oneself and to strive to increase personal knowledge.
