The opportunity:
An excellent opportunity has arisen in a newly created Actuarial Projects team to support UK P&C Actuarial. The team will be responsible for actuarial projects, performing bespoke reserving exercises and delivering analytics across the UK portfolio, while helping to communicate the financial risk and its consequences, all of which are fundamentally important to our business. The team will also partake in regulatory reporting.
Experience in Reserving, IFRS17 and regulatory reporting, as well as previous exposure to PRA supervision, would be advantageous.
What will you be doing?
* Support the Head of Actuarial Projects in delivering actuarial services to the UK Chief Actuary P&C, Heads of Reserving and other business partners, including insights into underlying performance and business implications on topics with a moderate to high level of complexity.
* Liaise regularly with the Heads of Reserving and their teams to provide support with the reviewing, reporting and communication of results on an IFRS and Solvency II basis each quarter.
* Support in the delivery of new analyses and insights to develop a deep understanding of the UK P&C business model, its underwriting strategy and its interactions with customers.
* Support and advise Finance, market-facing business units, and other functions on reserving and strategic business decisions.
* Clearly highlight, document and explain any assumptions made.
* Assist in regulatory queries, specific portfolio reserving analyses and deep dives to aid senior management decision making.
* Drive continuous improvement in all pieces of work conducted.
What are we looking for?
* A nearly/newly qualified actuary, financial accountant or business analyst with a demonstrable level of experience, including experience in IFRS17 and Pillar III regulatory reporting and governance in the UK general insurance sector (i.e. QRTs and NSTs).
* A serious and professional attitude towards compliance of regulatory submissions with an eye for attention to detail in order to support accuracy.
* A high level of numeracy skills and an analytical approach to work is essential.
* Working knowledge of SQL, R, VBA, or other equivalent coding languages is of benefit.
* Excellent team-working, communication and interpersonal skills are also required.
* Professional manner, enthusiastic and positive attitude.
* Able to cope with change, manage and meet deadlines and work under pressure.
* Communicative, with an ability to understand the wider picture.
* Able to use a creative, open-minded and proactive approach.
