Overview
Important: All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance, and as a minimum be living in the UK for 5 years.
Working: The role is office/hybrid based with occasional travel to other company/customer's sites in the UK or abroad. Office site presence, anticipated 2-3 days onsite, depending on project needs.

Responsibilities:
1. Be seen as the main focal point for the Product Safety Assurance of the Design of equipment following customer requirements.
2. Provide credible advice and guidance to the wider business and external stakeholders.
3. Ensuring that safety considerations are an integral part of the design process and take cognisance of the whole product lifecycle.
4. Maintaining and managing the implementation of the Project Safety Management System for equipment design and delivery.
5. Evolving working practices where appropriate to ensure that product safety can be managed in a cost-effective manner.
6. Be capable of resolving a range of Product Safety engineering issues and problems, compiling technical reports, and accompanying presentations.
7. Cultivate the safety arguments for a variety of equipment, employing all required facets of the product safety lifecycle.
8. Ensure that the standards of Product Safety defined by statutory, business, and customer requirements are observed in the heavy-duty equipment.
9. Work effectively as a team of Product Safety Engineers across the business.
Experience needed:
10. Ideally qualified to degree-level or equivalent experience in a Physics or Engineering based subject, such as; Electronics, Hardware, Computer Science, Safety or Systems Engineering etc.
11. Hold acknowledged competency in the specialised field of Product Safety Engineering, with a demonstrable and successful track record of delivering a Product Safety Management System (PSMS) within a complex system environment
12. Hold significant/relevant knowledge of applicable legislation and standards (e.g., HASAWA, COSHH, REACh, BS EN 61508, Def Stan 00-056, Def Stan 00-055 etc.)
Experience in the following would be desirable:
13. Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous
14. Experience in the Naval / Maritime domain would be advantageous.
15. Hold CEng, or equivalent experience to be able to achieve it, in the short-term
16. Be a recognised member of a relevant industry wide body, e.g., SCSC, SaRS, IET, IMechE etc
