Materials Development Engineer Location: London, W12 Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum (depending on experience) About Us: We’re a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers and software developers from diverse backgrounds brought together by a passion for creating advanced materials for our customers. We are now looking for a Materials Development Engineer or Senior Materials Development Engineer (full time) to join our growing team. The successful applicant will assist in running our pilot lab line to develop, together with the team, our new protein-based fibres. Role responsibilities: Operate and optimize the pilot/lab line for evaluating protein spinnability Improvement of spinning process to increase fibre performance Planning, carrying out and analysing experiments Development of novel processes Supervision, development and improvement of measuring methods for process monitoring Carrying out relevant material testing Work closely and flexibly with our interdisciplinary team of materials scientists engineers, and synthetic biologists Qualifications/Experience: BSc or higher (MSc or PhD) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or equivalent work experience. High levels of creativity and experience in planning experiments Experience in handling chemicals Good documentation practice Excellent communication skills Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, SharePoint and PowerPoint Experience with analysing data using the Python or other programming languages Nice to have: Experience working in characterising materials Nice to have: Experience working in fibre spinning processes Nice to have: a tinkerer mentality - you like to build and fix things on your own We are open to candidates with varying levels of experience and qualification.
