Data Center Technician Trainee, Data Center Operations
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for Trainee Data Center Technicians (DCT) to join our expanding team as part of our Work-Based Learning Program (WBLP).
Trainees will participate in our 12-week work and training program in our Data Centers.
As a DCT Trainee you will work as part of the Data Center Operations (DCO) Team overseeing the operation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure and hardware for data centers in AWS Cloud regions. Our Data Centers are large-scale high-density centers where you will be working on changing the face of cloud technology.
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key job responsibilities
1. Ensure overall availability and reliability for our customers within our Data Centers
2. Install new rack equipment
3. Decommission existing racks
4. Repair and diagnose broken servers
5. Handle computer equipment and parts
6. Manage network gear during installation, decommissioning, and repair
In addition, all candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful.
Physical Requirements:
1. Walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch. Work at heights and from ladders
2. Regularly lift and/or move up to 15 kg unassisted; and participate in group lifts for 16 kg or more
3. Must be able to lift loads of up to 22 kg and carry them for short distances
4. Continuously climb and descend stairs safely (applies to sites with stairs)
5. Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance
6. Push or pull heavy objects into position
7. Daily travel between sites may be required
8. Ability to stand for long periods of time
A day in the life
In this role, you'll be working on our advanced ticketing system. You'll be part of a collaborative team that keeps our cloud infrastructure running smoothly, responding to both automated directives and team leadership with exceptional time management and adaptability.
Your expertise in problem ticket tracking and escalation procedures will be crucial as you consistently meet and exceed Amazon's high standards for technical proficiency and operational excellence. This role is vital in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our sophisticated data center infrastructure – you'll be working and supporting the face of Cloud technology in the region.

1. High school diploma or equivalent education
2. 18 years or older
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Familiarity with computer hardware components and operating systems
2. Has taken STEM or vocational course curriculum
