As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Welfare Team Lead to join our close-knit team at Oak Tree School located in Truro.
Purpose of Job:
1. To work under the instruction/guidance of the SLT team.
2. To support the welfare, development, and behaviour of all pupils and staff, enabling access to learning for pupils and modelling appropriate and relevant interventions for staff.
3. To support and assist in the accurate implementation and development of school policies, modelling a high standard of intervention when supporting pupils and staff.
4. To develop the Welfare Team so it is an integral part of the support systems of the school.
Knowledge and Understanding:
The position holder is to have knowledge and understanding of:
1. The school’s aims, priorities, targets, curriculum policies, and local offers.
2. The statutory curriculum requirements and the requirements for assessment, recording, and reporting of pupils.
3. The characteristics of high-quality teaching and the main strategies for improving and sustaining high standards of practice and achievement for all pupils.
4. The implications of the code of practice of special educational needs for teaching and learning, to reduce students’ barriers to learning and education and psychological, physical, sensory, social communication and interaction development leading to all pupils achieving their full potential.
5. The CPI Safety Interventions approaches and interventions to lead on whole school implementation.

Oak Tree School in Truro has recently expanded and developed two new buildings and undergone a successful inspection from Ofsted allowing us to offer a wider age range of pupils from 5 – 18 years the opportunity to have the best education possible. Oak Tree School is a specialist SEMH provision positioned near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 135 pupils and young people aged 5 to 18 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These pupils and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with pupils accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.
This opportunity is in Truro which is within commutable distance of Redruth, St Austell and surrounding areas.
