The post holder will undertake ultrasound examinations as requested to ensure a smooth and efficient service to support the 7 day service ensuring the highest standards of sonography practice and patient care.
The post holder will ideally be able to provide general, abdominal, gynaecological and obstetric ultrasound scanning services in conjunction with other Advanced Practitioners in Ultrasound and Radiologists at the County Hospital in Hereford and Community Hospitals in Herefordshire and Powys.
Main duties of the job
Come and join our friendly team at Hereford Hospital, part of Wye Valley NHS Trust. We are looking for an Advanced Practitioner in Ultrasound.
The Imaging department is in the fifth year of a 10 year Managed equipment service partnership with Philips Healthcare which has seen new equipment and redevelopment works to create an improved working environment benefitting both patients and staff.
Our ultrasound service is provided within both the acute hospital and at our satellite community hospitals providing variety, the successful candidate will rotate around all areas. Sonographers undertake a comprehensive range of ultrasound examinations that includes Abdominal, Gynaecological, Obstetric, Vascular and small parts. We are keen to extend the scope of practice for sonographers and would welcome candidates with experience in other modalities. We are also delivering a 7 day service. Flexibility of hours will be considered.
Good organisational and communication skills are essential to ensure efficient, safe workflow. You will also be expected to take part in audits and our established quality assurance programme to develop the team and department. The department has a rich history of staff development and our five year strategy will continue to build on this.

Experience
* Experience/Training in ultrasound within an NHS setting
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Expert knowledge of ultrasound
* Awareness of core governance issues regarding risk, infection control, health and safety
* Expert knowledge of professional guidelines, policies and procedures
* Knowledge of patient pathways and the key role of diagnostic imaging

Education & Qualifications
