We are a small unique forest school set in a private woodland deep in the heart of Farley Mount. My Little Explorers started in 2012 and is a secure natural space where children can develop their imagination, take risks and build on social skills. With the support of Early Years and Forest School practitioners children learn in a natural environment and have the freedom and space to be themselves – to run and hide, climb and build dens, tell stories and cook on the campfire. Every day is different as our outdoor settings change from season to season creating new learning opportunities.
What we are looking for:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Early Years Practitioner to join our forest school setting, someone who is passionate about the outdoors and can see the benefits it offers children.
This is a term-time-only position during core hours (08:45 - 16:15) on Wednesdays and Fridays. The ideal candidate should also be flexible to cover additional shifts as needed.
Key responsibilities:
- Promote high standards of quality within the setting concerning the environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
- Ensure that practice and provision in the setting meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Forest School ethos.
- Ensure that children are kept safe, understand and, when necessary, follow Safeguarding Procedures.
- Promote and facilitate partnerships with parents/carers and other family members.
- Support the development of good practices concerning special needs and inclusion.
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
Personal attributes:
-Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification and relevant experience in a childcare setting.
- An understanding of the developmental needs of children and be able to help them progress in their learning in a natural environment.
- Good knowledge of health and safety and willingness to learn.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding good practice.
- Enthusiastic, creative and have a passion for working with children.
- Able to communicate well with parents as well as children.
- Able to embrace the weather and not worry about getting dirty!
