What will you be doing?
We’re seeking a talented individual to join our Private Client Tax team in Newcastle, to be part of a dedicated law firm compliance function. You will be responsible for reviewing tax returns for law firm partners, prepared by other team members, ensuring appropriate feedback is given. You will ensure internal deadlines are met and work with the client relationship team to discuss any planning opportunities or client queries. Each client is different, and the services provided will differ for each, so an agile and professional working style is essential to enable you to adapt to different clients. This role will develop to eventually take over the client relationship responsibilities and you have the opportunity to shape the role and function from the start.
As a Senior Manager, your responsibilities will include among others:
* Deliver excellent client service by maintaining client relationships
* Manage a portfolio of personal clients with complex tax affairs
* Day to day responsibility for meeting both client and compliance deadlines, monitoring time limits and elections
* Assisting Partners in, and where appropriate, lead tax planning projects such as non-domicile issues, onshore and offshore trusts (and other structures) and, capital gains and inheritance tax issues
* Manage HMRC enquiries together with any disclosures to HMRC via the worldwide disclosure facility or the offshore disclosure unit
* Responsible for billing and monitoring budgets
* Review compliance and basic advisory work prepared by more junior members of staff
* Engage in personal business development activities and support business development activities of the team
* Ensuring internal procedures are adhered to and responsible for some departmental administrative tasks
To be successful in this role, you should:
* Qualified Chartered Accountant and/or Chartered Tax Adviser
* Significant relevant experience gained within a professional services firm, particularly dealing with law firm partners and/or partnerships.
* Demonstrable experience of managing complex compliance issues.
* People management and organisational skills.
