Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Peterlee
Salary: £28.54 ph PAYE / £37.69 ph Umbrella (inside IR35)
Contract Duration: 12 Month contract
Job Purpose:
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will leverage your technical expertise to design, develop, and implement advanced manufacturing systems and operations. This role offers the opportunity to lead projects, mentor team members, and stay at the forefront of innovative technology, all while expanding your professional network.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Management: Lead and manage Manufacturing, Fabrication, Paint, and Assembly projects, ensuring they meet deadlines and budget constraints.
2. Budgeting: Assist in developing and maintaining department capital and expense budgets, including capital forecasts.
3. New Product Introduction (NPI): Administer the NPI process, ensuring timely release and processing of engineering drawings for NPI builds.
4. Best Practices: Champion Design for Manufacture Best Practices, Operation Excellence Process Validation, and Lean Manufacturing Best Practices.
5. Problem Solving: Address operational issues such as ergonomic/safety concerns, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, and quality concerns through creative problem solving.
6. Supplier Collaboration: Work with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects, ensuring cost-effective and efficient systems and processes.
7. Process Improvement: Oversee the application, procurement, processing, installation, and capability of new fabrication, material handling, testing, heat treatment, welding, painting, and chemical processes and equipment.
8. Systems Integration: Design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems integration, including factory control software, scheduling techniques, and simulation systems.
9. Flow Analysis and Financial Modelling: Coordinate activities related to flow analysis, design, financial modelling, and implementation of complex manufacturing group technology cells.
10. Machine Tools and Equipment: Manage the purchase and application of machine tools, controls, and related equipment to ensure the latest technology enhances operational efficiency and economy.
11. Jigs and Fixtures: Support the design of complex jigs and fixtures.
Skills and Experience:
1. Minimum of one year in the current role or written authorization from a manager to waive this requirement. Inform your manager before applying.
2. No live disciplinary actions or performance action plans.
3. University or technical degree in a manufacturing engineering-related discipline (or equivalent).
4. Relevant job experience.
5. Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have:
1. Master's degree in a manufacturing engineering-related discipline.
2. Familiarity with company policies and procedures.
3. Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.
4. Lean manufacturing training and qualifications.
5. CE/PUWER Qualifications.

9. APQP/PPAP experience and qualifications.
