JOB DESCRIPTION: Registered Manager
RESPONSIBLE TO: Responsible Individual
JOB SUMMARY:
To provide quality care for a group of vulnerable young people with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, including those with complex behaviors and learning disabilities, within an OFSTED registered residential home. This includes the running and management of the home as the Registered Manager.
HOURS OF WORK:
Your normal working week will be a 5-day week (Mon-Fri 9.00am - 5.00pm); however, you will be expected to keep these hours flexible. These hours may vary and could include weekends and sleep-ins to meet the needs of the service.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work under the direction of the Responsible Individual to actively contribute to the provision of quality care, promoting the health, welfare, education, and development of young people.
2. Ensure there is an appropriate Statement of Purpose for the home and that it is updated regularly.
3. Contribute to maintaining a positive, safe, and homely environment, prioritizing the safety and care of young people.
4. Ensure standards within the home are maintained and developed in line with the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
5. Attend and chair young people's and staff meetings, liaising with other professional agencies.
6. Work with the Responsible Individual to direct the team within the daily routine, including parenting responsibilities and household chores.
7. Maintain good communication skills, including comprehensive report writing.
8. Work in partnership with parents, social workers, and other professionals linked to the young person's care plan.
9. Undertake the checking and sampling of key working sessions and contribute to the writing of care plans.
10. Follow relevant legislation and company policies, ensuring understanding of how these are applied in practice.
11. Build positive working relationships with young people, ensuring adherence to boundaries and consistency of care practice.
12. Work collectively with team members to manage young people exhibiting challenging behavior using effective care practices.
13. Undertake appropriate training and provide operational management of the staff team.
14. Lead on all OFSTED related matters to ensure the home is judged as good or outstanding.
15. Ensure compliance with the company's Health and Safety policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Working knowledge of young people and child development.
2. Understanding of current legislation and OFSTED requirements.
3. Knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations (2015) and Quality Care Standards.
4. Experience in leading a committed team to deliver excellent care.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. QCF/NVQ 5 in Leadership and Management or equivalent is essential.
2. Able to effectively use strategies for dealing with confrontational behavior.
3. Ability to engage appropriately with young people and develop rapport.
4. Ability to manage personal and professional boundaries.
5. Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice.
6. Hold a current full driving license and be prepared to drive as part of the work.
