Applications are invited for the post of Research Laboratory Technician (Grade 3) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the School of Clinical Medicine.
You will be working on the Pregnancy Outcome Predictions Study Part 2 (POPS2), an observational cohort study building on the work of the hugely successful POPS. The study is focused on evaluating and developing new diagnostic methods to understand and prevent placentally-related complications in human pregnancy.
You will be involved in the collection and tracking of samples using 2D barcoded storage tubes linked to the sample management system which ensures the integrity and correct storage of each sample. You will assist with administrative tasks including updating the sample management system, producing sample reports, and ensuring all sample paperwork is correctly filed. You will also be involved in the processing and tracking of samples that have already been collected by identifying samples and selecting them from storage.
Due to the nature of these sample requirements the role holder may be required to work occasional weekend hours.
