The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Lighting/Electrical Engineer to join our Consulting Energy, Lighting & Technology Practice in Scotland. We welcome applications from across the regions of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Amey Consulting are the Design partner to support Transport Scotland in the delivery of the South West and North East Trunk Road Network Management Contracts. These long-term contracts involve designing some of the largest civil engineering and associated infrastructure projects in Scotland with cumulative values in excess of £1bn, providing excellent opportunities for technical, engineering and professional design staff at all stages in their careers.
The role
As a Lighting/Electrical Engineer at Amey Consulting, you'll see your work from early design to the very end result, and every project will be different. You will be responsible for or assist with:
* Developing effective concept design solutions that are consistent with the project brief.
* Undertaking a wide range of design work on all aspects of the functions design and maintenance.
* Implementing effective, value for money and innovative design solutions to meet technical and project requirements.
* Progressing projects through preliminary and detailed design with emphasis on client requirements, ensuring innovation and best practice is highlighted and adopted.
* Driving effective health and safety practices within your team.
* Ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM regulations.
* Supervising, mentoring and developing team members.
* Assisting with contract preparation together with project planning and programming.
* Project administration reporting to the Project Manager including monitoring programme delivery, resources and budgets inspection work, feasibility studies, cost estimating for works and fees.
* Supporting the preparation of bids and delivery of services on other contracts.
* Conducting inspection work, feasibility studies, cost estimating for works and fees.
* Managing project-related correspondence effectively.
* Ensuring compliance with the integrated management system and assisting in development.
* Preparing technical reports (e.g. Feasibility/Options Reports, Assessment Reports and other technical reports).
* Developing engineering solutions and presenting engineering options.
* Liaising with the Client and our Community partners to ensure solutions are suitable for buildability and maintainability.
* Keeping up to date with personal development to ensure the natural growth of the team and progression with your chosen professional institution.
What you will bring to us:
* You have made progress towards completion of a formal professional training programme with an appropriate professional body.
* You can demonstrate experience and expertise within the relevant technical field, probably gained in a Graduate Engineer role or equivalent.
* You are able to produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working under supervision.
* You are experienced in following procedures associated with health, safety and welfare.
* You can comply with technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment.
