The purpose of the Laser Systems Specialist is to focus on supporting the sales process by providing expert technical
consultation, delivering compelling demonstrations, and ensuring laser systems are the ideal solution for our customer needs. The goal is to accelerate the sales process and help close deals by delivering tailored laser solutions that drive business value for clients. This role will carry out pre sales research to learn about our customers’ needs to deliver the right solution for their needs. You will be results driven, highly analytical, customer obsessed, and ready to roll up your sleeves to grow the business.

Key Responsibilities and Accountability:
Technical Sales Support:
· Collaborate with the sales team to provide deep technical expertise on laser systems, ensuring the customer is
well-informed on the capabilities, benefits, and applications.
· Assist in preparing technical documentation, including proposals, specifications, and cost estimates to support
the sales process.
Customer Needs Analysis & Solution Fit:
· Engage with customers to understand their unique requirements, challenges, and production goals.
· Recommend tailored laser solutions based on the customer’s application, material, throughput, and precision
needs.
Proof of Concept & Product Demonstrations:
· Conduct on-site and virtual product demonstrations, providing customers with real-world examples of the laser
system’s capabilities.
· Run sample tests on customer materials to demonstrate system performance, ensuring customers see the value
of the proposed solution.
ROI Justification & Business Case Development:
· Develop clear, compelling ROI analyses and business case documents, illustrating the cost savings, efficiency
gains, and long-term value of the laser systems.
· Work with customers to identify productivity gains and cost reductions achievable with the proposed solution,
ensuring a strong financial justification for purchase.
System Customisation & Integration Strategy:
· Customize solutions based on customer-specific needs, ensuring the laser system integrates smoothly into the
customer’s production environment.
· Advise on system integration, automation, and scalability to address any technical concerns and highlight the
long-term viability of the solution.
Proposal Development & Deal Acceleration:
· Work closely with the sales team to prepare detailed proposals and refine technical documentation to align with customer needs. · Actively address customer objections, answer technical questions, and provide necessary information to expedite decision-making and close the deal.
Other Duties
· Attend internal meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business development · Attend training and develop relevant knowledge, techniques, and skills. · Adhere to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment. · Present the company in a positive and professional manner to all customers, suppliers and outside agencies and organisations. · Always embody the values of Cyklop Needham Limited.
Additional Expectations:
This role is predominantly field based with a need for travel within the UK and occasional international travel as
required by the company. Attendance at meetings at the head office (Whitchurch) will be required on a regular
basis either in person or via video conferencing.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent
experience).
· Proven experience in pre-sales support, technical sales, or applications engineering, preferably in the laser or
industrial automation industry.
· Strong understanding of laser technologies, including fiber, CO₂, UV, and other laser systems.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both
technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Ability to work collaboratively with sales teams to develop strategies that lead to successful deal closures.
· Experience in preparing ROI analyses, cost-benefit comparisons, and technical proposals.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to customize solutions for unique customer needs.
· Ability to travel to customer sites for product demonstrations and testing (as required).
Performance targets will be communicated to you and reviewed on a regular basis.
