As a Contracts and Shipping Team Leader based in our office in Stafford, you will be responsible to ensure Company's values and policies for Safety, Customer, Team, Lean, Cost and Cash are communicated, understood, and implemented within areas of control.
You will be supporting and guiding the Contracts and Shipping Team to successfully deliver daily targets, achieving goals, and business KPIs. You will drive Order Processing and Shipping processes to maximize on-time delivery to customers. As a team leader, you will be expected to create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture. Also, you will provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders, as well as perform general administrative tasks.
Ultimately, you will cooperate with the Contracts and Shipping Manager to maximize performance, supervise, and motivate the Contracts and Shipping team to ensure smooth operations and effective collaboration, leading by example.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Support, encourage, and motivate people, support Manager's decisions, challenge the team and provide guidance when needed.
* Chair Flash 5 meetings with the Contracts and Shipping Team (Safety, Workload, Targets, Issues).
* Set daily targets, facilitate workload, and monitor progress to ensure departmental KPIs are met.
* Drive the team to deliver sales targets, prioritize work, and use resources efficiently to maximize output and achieve targeted sales on a monthly/quarterly basis.
* Ensure Contracts and Shipping members are sufficiently trained to service customer demands in line with procedures and utilize knowledge within the departments to train everyone to the same standard.
* Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments.
* Encourage creativity and risk-taking.
* Resolve employee complaints, minor disputes, and personal problems with the objective of achieving satisfactory solutions whether this is informally or formally via HR procedures.
* Maintain and update Contracts and Shipping Procedures.
* Carry out weekly meetings with Regions to discuss escalated orders and issues.
* Maintain Regional Escalation Smartsheet, provide updates, and support.
* Manage and coordinate with Regions and Freight Forwarders shipments to be processed in line with contracts.
* Liaise with other departments, provide support when needed and encourage strong cross-departmental relationships.
* Provide expertise in problem-solving and offer alternative solutions.
* Point of contact for Planning, Production Team, and any other departments.
* Embrace continuous improvement within departments (eliminate waste, make processes more efficient, encourage team members to provide improvement ideas).
* Deputize for Manager during absence.
* Independently make decisions in Manager's absence to satisfy customer requirements and to support other departments when needed.
* Use departmental tools and reports to maximize output to achieve goals.
* Maintain KPIs: OA Lead Time, OTD, FG, OIH overdue.
Required Skills:
* Has relevant experience as a team leader or supervisor.
* Knowledge of import and export shipping procedures.
* Knowledge of customs regulations, export documentation, and import regulations of overseas countries.
* Logistics and warehouse knowledge.
* Good PC skills, Excel, Outlook.
* Good knowledge of SAP or any other equivalent ERP system.
* Experience in applying Daily management tools, and LEAN understanding.
* Customer service knowledge.
* Organizational and time-management skills.
* KPI reporting.
* Ability to perform under heavy workload in a high-intensity pressured environment.
