Let us tell a bit about the opportunity
Within this role you will provide first class risk and control support to the Business Finance unit within the Aldermore Group. You will develop strong relationships with business heads and embed their team within the business units to provide advice and guidance on the management of risk within their business area. You will deliver the core risk and control processes for each business unit, including but not limited to, RCSAs and risk event / issue triage. As necessary they will leverage expertise from specialist risk teams i.e. cyber, in order to ensure the business area receives the appropriate advice and guidance. Finally you will work closely with the Governance, Insights and Reporting Team to ensure that risks are proactively identified and managed, and that Business Heads have clear visibility of their risk and control environment profile.
What will your day look like?
* Provide subject matter expert advice on risk and control matters to the commercial business heads, leveraging specialist risk teams as appropriate.
* Delivering the core risk and control processes for the commercial business units (RCSA, risk event triage etc.) in line with Group standards and best practice.
* Advising commercial business heads on the risk and control environment profile of their business and actions needed to address any areas of risk outside of tolerance.
* Supporting business heads to take appropriate risk safely in pursuit of their business strategy.
* Supporting local business projects with risk and control advice and guidance through check and challenge of Risk Acceptances, Change Risk Assessments, and small change requests
* Working with the Governance, Insights and Reporting Team to identify emerging areas of risk and with the business units and wider risk partners to develop and deliver plans to address them before they materialise.
* Proactively analyse the reporting data to identify trends, the root cause of control failures to ensure remediation and continuous improvements are made and risk and control ratings are updated appropriately.
What do we expect from you?
* A senior leader with extensive experience in risk and control management, preferably from within the Financial Services industry.
* Working knowledge of the appropriate risk and control methodologies.
* Management skills; proven engaging and inclusive management style.
* Analytical skills – able to analyse and interpret key facts across a spectrum of data sources, providing stakeholders with clear and concise recommendations and reports.
* Proven stakeholder engagement experience, including experience of working in a matrix management structure.
* Problem solving / decision making skills - ability to decide, under pressure, the best course of action required to solve a range of problems from complex queries to technical issues.
* Communication and Interpersonal Skills – communicate clearly and concisely, tailoring content and style, with ability to make a positive impression on others. Coaching, training, and mentoring experience across diverse teams, capable of effectively managing conflict and change, resolving problems expeditiously.
