Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced mental health nurse who is caring, compassionate and committed to lead on providing excellent care for adults and their families.
The post-holder will be responsible for the leadership on Larch Ward, in particular that of Nursing staff, but also will contribute to the effective working of the Multi-Disciplinary team; the post-holder will also be a member of the hospital leadership team.
This is a varied, dynamic role that would suit a forward thinking, energetic, creative practitioner with a passion for strong clinical leadership and governance.
To be successful in this role you will need to be an excellent communicator, a credible and motivational role model for nurses and keen to work in a challenging and rewarding environment.
Acute services are fast paced and the Ward Manager will frequently be confronted with competing challenges and demands. You will need to have a 'can do' attitude and be solution focused. You will need to be extremely well organised, hardworking, and to be able to confidently demonstrate your ability to manage crisis situations and to work effectively in a team.

Job responsibilities
7. To be responsible for the management and leadership of a team of health professionals providing care over a 24-hour period including responsibility for assessment planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the patients within their sphere of responsibility.
8. To ensure that the team functions in line with the care group core business.
9. To provide effective leadership and management to staff which promotes high performance standards both individually and as a team, in the achievement of the Trusts objectives and priorities. The Trusts success will be dependant on all managers playing an active role to make sure the existing areas of good employment practice are universally embedded within the organisation.
10. To deliver a service within the agreed budgets and resources ensuring maximum value in terms of clinical and cost effectiveness.

Qualifications
Essential
12. Educated to degree/ diploma level with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience
13. Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / LD/ Adult) appropriate to the job role
14. Evidence of CPD
15. Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent
16. Post Basic Courses / relevant Study Days

17. Extensive experience of acute care in the care group and demonstrable achievement in clinical practice
18. Experience of providing professional support/supervision and motivation of staff
19. Understanding of Health and Social Care Governance
20. Relevant care group experience of working with people with serious mental health problems
