1 month contract with a Local Authority Job Purpose We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with extensive expertise in security system and tools implementation within a UK local government context. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in implementing a managed Security Operations Centre (SOC)/Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution and a Backup as a Service (BaaS)/Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) solution for Slough Borough Council. This role requires a strong understanding of security systems, project management, and local government operations. Key Duties/Accountabilities Oversee the implementation of a managed SOC/SIEM solution and a BaaS/DRaaS solution for the council. Develop and manage project plans, and timelines, to ensure successful delivery of security solutions. Coordinate with key stakeholders, including IT, security, emergency planning and council departments, to ensure project alignment with organisational goals. Work across the organisation to ensure that the business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) plans in the ICT area meet the needs of the business, and that there is clarity and agreement over the BCDR requirements and responsibilities that must be met by other services. Ensure compliance with relevant local government regulations and standards. Identify and mitigate risks associated with the implementation of security solutions. Facilitate training and support for council staff on new security tools and systems. Monitor and report on project progress to senior management and stakeholders. Manage and collaborate with external vendors and service providers to ensure the effective delivery of security services. Document project processes, decisions, and outcomes to support future initiatives. Essential Experience Required Proven experience in infrastructure project management, particularly in security system and tools implementation is essential. Experience working within a UK local government context, including understanding of statutory requirements and standards is essential. Experience In DR SOLUTIONS Disaster Recovery and Backup solutions, as well as SIEM/SOC is essential. Essential Qualification Required Relevant project management certifications (e.g., PRINCE2) are highly desirable. Additional information to note Working hours: 37 hours per week.
