Junior Charge Nurse/Junior Charge ODP
UGI and Colorectal Theatres
Full Time Position
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Junior Charge ODP/Nurse to join our busy Upper GI and colorectal Surgery Theatres at Castle Hill Hospital.
The successful candidate will be a Registered ODP or Anaesthetic Nurse, or a Registered Nurse who is willing and keen to do the Anaesthetic Nurse training.
We are a happy team working over 3 operating theatres and cover a wide range of digestive disease surgeries.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic to learn, dedicated, motivated and possess high standards of care with a desire to advance in their professional career, build upon and improve clinical and theatre management and leadership skills.
A flexible attitude to work is required together with an excellent level of communication and sense of humour is essential!
Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will work closely with the Charge ODP and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of clinical practice and staff development as part of the theatre team.
2. As a member of the UGI and colorectal team you will be a competent anaesthetic practitioner and/or scrub practitioner following all checks and procedures as laid down in National / Theatre Policy.
3. To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor with the support of their senior colleagues.
4. To take charge of the operating theatre department in absence of Band 7.
5. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
6. To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified as appropriate to knowledge and training.
