Salary: (£29,603 - £44,778 pro rata ) - this could be combined with our Biology vacancy or another subject (depending on the College needs and candidates' qualification and experience)

Oaklands College is situated in picturesque grounds in the heart of St Albans and also in Welwyn Garden City. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, high calibre lecturer to teach A-Level Psychology at our St Albans campus. We also welcome applications from graduates who are keen to pursue a teaching career.
We are looking to appoint a teacher who is dedicated to ensuring our students succeed. You will be part of a successful, supportive team with a good record of achievement where you have the opportunity to make a real difference to the future of our students, enabling them to progress on to higher education or employment.
In addition, you will be involved in the recruitment and induction of students to A-level study programmes. You will be required to assist in the development, design, review and evaluation of the A-level curriculum and associated learning materials. You may also be required to take on personal tutor duties as part of this role.
If new to teaching, Oaklands will offer you a structured induction programme, pairing you with an experienced mentor. You will gain broad experience in a teaching environment from student enrolment, right up to results day. You will also have the opportunity to experience a variety of departments at the College. In addition to this, we will offer you a range of training and the opportunity to achieve a recognised teaching qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To teach A-level Psychology in line with the AQA syllabus.
2. To plan and develop engaging, comprehensive lessons that cater to different learning styles and abilities.
3. To set and mark assignments, monitoring student progress and providing feedback to help students improve their performance and prepare them for the A-level exams.
4. To maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and grades.
5. To write reports and communicate with parents about student progress.
6. To contribute to departmental development through participation in curriculum planning, internal verification of student work and professional development activities.
Required Skills, Experience and Qualification
1. A degree in Psychology or a related field.
2. Familiarity with current scientific research and advancements to keep lessons relevant and interesting.
3. Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills.
4. Skill in explaining difficult ideas in a way that is accessible to students.
