Job Description
An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for a Hate Crime Policy Officer to support our partnership arrangements in Glasgow to tackle hate crime on a fixed-term basis for a period of up to 2 years.
NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on sustainable transport, place making and delivering essential city services.
The post holder will coordinate the work of the Hate Crime Working Group, a multi-agency group consisting of public and third sector organisations who meet quarterly to coordinate work within the city around Hate Crime such as organising training, developing action plans, programmes, and projects. This group is chaired by an elected member and feeds into Glasgow City Council’s Safe Partnership.
The successful candidate will lead in the delivery and evaluation of our partnership Hate Crime Strategy, provide training, and presentations to stakeholders and elected members. The post holder will also provide written and verbal reports to the relevant council committee.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders within Glasgow City Council, partners within the wider public sector such as Police Scotland, Crown Office, and Procurator Fiscal Service, third sector and grassroots community groups, providing draft Hate Crime action plans, reports, training, and briefings on hate crime and related matters for consideration by partnership forums and internal groups.
Knowledge of Hate Crime Policy is essential as is high-quality written and verbal communication. The successful candidate must understand community planning structures and have a history of delivering multi-agency programmes.
Weekly Hours: 35
Work Pattern: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
Annual Salary: £35,220.36 - £42,331.48 on an incremental scale
