Hybrid role: 1-2 days on-site per week, varying based on business needs.
Supplier site visits may be required across the UK, primarily in the southeast. Travel expenses are covered and count towards on-site attendance.
Key Accountabilities:
- Category Strategy: Develop and implement strategies for assigned categories to meet business objectives and deliver cost savings, in collaboration with business stakeholders.
- Sourcing & Supplier Management: Lead strategic sourcing, execute RFx processes, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiations in line with AWE policies and requirements.
- Contract Management: Oversee contract execution and administration, ensuring compliance, managing commercial risks, and providing assurance to the relevant teams.
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Manage key suppliers, track performance, mitigate risks, and participate in review meetings to ensure alignment with AWE's SRM framework.
- Value Development: Identify opportunities to maximize supplier value and actively engage in supplier business reviews.
- Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to ensure their involvement in category strategies, sourcing activities, and supplier management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Category Management: Implement cost-effective category strategies, manage supplier base, and deliver on KPIs for assigned categories.
- Sourcing: Lead the RFx process, supplier evaluation, negotiations, and ensure competitive costs throughout the lifecycle.
- Contract Execution: Prepare contracts, ensuring they align with sourcing strategies, and manage compliance throughout the contract's lifecycle.
- Supplier Performance: Monitor and manage supplier risks, quality, and performance in line with AWE's SRM framework.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment with category strategies and sourcing activities.

- Strong commercial business acumen
- Extensive public sector procurement experience
Essential Criteria:
- Procurement Expertise: Proven experience in sourcing strategies, end-to-end procurement lifecycle, and category management
- Stakeholder & Supplier Engagement: Strong skills in managing relationships, collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements, and engaging suppliers effectively
- Experience with Large Contracts: Demonstrated experience managing large-scale commercial contracts across diverse categories
- Commercial Acumen & Problem-Solving: High-level understanding of commercial dynamics with strong problem-solving abilities
- Adaptability & Initiative: A proactive, results-driven individual, able to work at a senior level with minimal supervision and swiftly address challenges
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with procurement regulations and compliance within the public sector
Desirable Criteria:
- Contract Knowledge: Familiar with NEC contracts (Options A, C, E) or equivalent
- Industry Background: Exposure to construction, site decontamination, and waste services sectors
- Nuclear/Defence Experience: Background in nuclear or defence sectors preferred
