Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
As our Instrumentation, Control & Automation Technician Apprentice you will work to develop competence in:
* Excellent standards of performance in Health, Safety and Environmental management
* Carry out safe isolation to the current IET regulations
* Carry out fault finding techniques on control circuits up to the PLC (Programmable logic controller)
* Produce maintenance reports
* Program PLCs (Programmable logic controller), including Schneider, Allen Bradley & Mitsubishi equipment
* Maintain, calibrate and certify analytical instrumentation
* Fault finding and repair of Safety instrument Loops
* Work in accordance with Yorkshire Water Task Lists, Safe Working Procedures and safe systems of work

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

The qualification is delivered at Appris on a day release basis for the first two years. the remainder of the apprenticeship is then focussed on building your competence and portfolio of evidence.

The qualification is delivered by Appris on Sticker Lane in Bradford and travel to Bradford weekly is required.
