Geotechnical Engineer sought at a large Ground Engineering company. This exciting opportunity is based in Chesterfield.
Overview
Our client is part of a leading site investigation, contaminated land and geotechnical consultancy operating throughout the UK, providing services to many of the country's leading property developers, utility providers, main contractors, house builders, local authorities, and other government organisations. They deliver ground engineering structural installation and maintenance throughout the civil engineering and construction markets.
This is a great opportunity for a geotechnical engineer to work with a contractor who delivers bespoke design and build solutions. The majority of work entails the stabilisation of rock and soil slopes. The role will be office-based, but with significant site visits. The candidate must be willing to undertake IRATA rope-access training and inspections.
Responsibilities
1. Inspection of rock faces, slopes, and retaining walls both on foot and using ropes with an experienced rope access supervisor. IRATA rope access training will be provided by the company.
2. Visits to current slope stabilisation projects to ensure construction is undertaken in accordance with design.
3. Undertaking detailed design of stabilisation solutions.
4. Preparation of quotations, inspection reports, and design documentation.
5. Use of slope stability software and AutoCAD.
6. Help to develop the company’s design and build capability to bring more work into the business.
Requirements
1. Minimum 3 years’ background in a similar role.
2. Practical background in inspecting rock and soil slopes and use of slope stability software.
3. Bachelor’s degree in geology/civil engineering or a related subject essential.
4. Excellent report writing skills.
5. Full, clean driving licence essential.
