A bit about the role…
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to work within the Commercial department. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Trainee Quantity Surveyor will assist in the provision of quantity surveying services under the direction of the Commercial Team and train as a Quantity Surveyor.
With our rapid growth and continued development, we are looking to continue to grow our teams for a variety of Social Housing projects across the North West.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-driven individual who is keen to learn and willing to be flexible to work within our small and experienced Commercial team.
This is a permanent role based at our Head Office in Wigan, but you will need to travel to and work from Connolly sites across the North West of England.

What you will be responsible for…
Working as part of a team, as a trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will work towards independently carrying out the following responsibilities:
1. Preparing tender and contract documents
2. Allocating work to subcontractors
3. Identifying commercial risk
4. Preparing the project procurement schedule
5. Undertaking commercial functions of the projects assigned to you, maintaining strong relationships with the client and site teams
6. Making client applications against project bill of quantities
7. Carrying out site visits to establish progress
8. Attending client meetings to ensure commercial presence throughout the project
9. Reviewing weekly costs for anomalies
10. Providing project forecasts both internally and externally to the client
What you’ll bring to the team…
The ideal candidate will:
1. Have a good standard of education with excellent numerical skills
2. Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
3. Have excellent organizational skills
4. Be used to working to strict deadlines
5. Have a full UK driving licence
