Denholm Associates has partnered with a leading technology-driven manufacturing business based in Glasgow, specialising in delivering innovative solutions to high-profile clients across the defence and aerospace sectors. We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Commercial Manager to lead our clients commercial team and drive the growth of our business.
Role Overview:
As the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end sales process within the business. You will manage and mentor a team of 3 commercial professionals while ensuring the successful execution of high-value bids and contracts. You will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies that drive business growth and deliver exceptional value to our defence and aerospace clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead, manage, and mentor a team of 3 commercial professionals
2. Oversee the end to end sales lifecycle
3. Bid management - Lead the bid process with internal departments, suppliers and subcontractors
4. Develop and execute commercial strategies to meet business objectives, enhance profitability, and increase market share
5. Ensure timely and successful delivery of commercial proposals, including pricing strategies and terms & conditions
6. Contract Management - Oversee the entire contract lifecycle, from initial contract award to contract execution, including contract terms
7. Lead high-value bids, proposals, and contract negotiations, ensuring that all client requirements are met and that the company’s commercial interests are protected
8. Risk Management - Identify and assess contractual risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the company's interests
9. Continuous Improvement - Proactively identify areas for process improvement within the contract management function.
About You:
Required Qualifications & Skills:
1. Experience:
2. Proven experience (5+ years) in a commercial management role, with a strong focus on high-value bids and contract management
3. Experience working in a manufacturing environment, particularly within defence, aerospace, or similar industries
4. Strong knowledge of the sales process and ability to manage complex, long-cycle bids
