As the Junior Cyber Security Engineer, you will support the technical work being completed by the technical cyber security SMEs, with a specific focus on carrying out the triage of incident response tickets and alerts, both in the cloud and on-premise environments, and knowing when to elevate to the incident response manager. This is a collaborative role, working with the Incident Response Manager, DevOps Security Manager, Cyber Tech Lead, and Vulnerability Manager to assist them in their priorities and 'hold the reins' if they are away for absence periods. The role will also be responsible for working with the InfoSec governance team to automate daily tasks, join up current or new systems to ensure a more efficient working practice, and advise on technical cyber security issues. This role requires a focus on cyber security frameworks and will be responsible for setting, explaining, and completing technical findings that are proposed in audit reviews and red team exercises.

Some of the great things you’ll be doing:
1. Automate in PowerShell and Python to create scripts which automate key processes and provide ongoing testing of security controls, where necessary.
2. Initial triage of security incident tickets to identify nefarious behavior by uncovering malicious code and indications of compromise, and elevate as required.
3. Learn new skills such as forensics and threat hunting to investigate and defend against new threats.
4. Implement new security technologies for the environment under the direction of SMEs within the area.
5. Understand cyber security frameworks to assist SMEs in achieving outcomes through carrying out security reviews, identifying gaps in security practices, reviewing CTI, and suggesting mitigation of threats.
6. Build close relationships with other technical areas, such as IT Operations/DevOps and BU and Engineering teams.
What we’d like to see from you:
1. Prior experience in a technical cyber security role in an enterprise environment.
2. Ability to code in PowerShell and Python.
3. Experience of cyber Incident response tickets and alerts.
4. Have some experience in PHP, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar.
5. Passion for technology and security.
