Head of Year - Secondary School (North Manchester)
Are you an experienced teacher looking for a change from the classroom, or a strong graduate with experience managing challenging behaviour? A large secondary school in North Manchester, part of a well-established trust, is seeking a Head of Year to join their pastoral team.
This is a non-teaching role focused on student behaviour, uniform standards, detentions, and corridor support. The position is initially short-term but could become long-term for the right candidate.
The Role:
Position: Head of Year (Non-Teaching)
Location: North Manchester (Secondary School)
Contract: Short-term, potential for long-term
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Responsibilities:
Support behaviour management across the school, ensuring high standards
Monitor corridors, student conduct, and uniform compliance
Oversee detentions and pastoral interventions
Provide support to students and liaise with staff and parents as needed
Maintain a calm, authoritative presence to promote a positive school environment
Requirements:
Experienced teachers looking for a pastoral role OR graduates with strong behaviour management experience
Resilient and confident in dealing with challenging behaviour
Strong leadership and communication skills
DBS on the update service
Ability to provide references covering the last 2 years
