Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive health and safety audits and risk assessments for council properties, with a focus on educational institutions. Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with relevant legislation and best practices. Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to staff, management, and external stakeholders. Deliver training sessions and workshops on health and safety topics, including incident reporting, risk management, and emergency procedures. Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the council and its associated schools. Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Prepare and present health and safety reports to senior management and the council board. Qualifications and Experience: NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety. Proven experience in a health and safety advisory role, preferably within a council or educational setting. Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices. Experience in conducting risk assessments and audits, particularly in schools and educational environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and engage staff at all levels. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Desirable: IOSH Managing Safely certification. Experience in developing and delivering health and safety training programs. Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards.
