Public Law Department Background:
Our Public Law team is recognized for its excellence and undertakes both publicly (legal aid) and privately funded work. We handle various civil liberties and judicial review matters, with a commitment to representing vulnerable and marginalized clients.
Main Responsibilities of the Role:
* Report directly to Department Director
* Responsible for all aspects of Public Law work including providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members
* Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers
* Assist with training and development within the department
* Handle a variety of Public Law work including unlawful detention, false imprisonment, and NHS challenges
* Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
* Draft documents including witness statements and evidence processing
* Attend conferences and court
* Demonstrate a proactive approach with strong client care skills
Key Skills Required:
* Law Society Immigration Accreditation Level 2 (IAAS) & Supervisor is desirable
* Commitment to providing an excellent standard of service
* Clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying
* Previous supervisory experience and ability to work to key performance indicators
* Excellent networking and communication skills
* Experience in dealing with all Public Law related work
* Excellent IT Skills, familiar with Microsoft Office applications
