To undertake assessment and deliver specialist intervention to individuals with complex speech, language, and communication needs. To undertake assessment and deliver treatment to individuals with eating, drinking, and swallowing needs. It would be preferable that the post holder will be competent in the assessment and treatment of eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties (or committed to completing Post-Graduate Dysphagia Training within a specified time frame).
To provide clinical supervision to Associate Practitioners and Students, overseeing clinical work. To engage in regular management and clinical supervision, reflective practice, and CPD. To engage in clinical governance activities and service delivery projects to ensure quality service provision. To have knowledge of related issues and influencing national and local directives. To be responsible for ensuring the highest professional standards and attitudes towards individuals within our care are maintained at all times and that care is delivered in accordance with evidence-based practice by all members of the team.
Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our Secure Inpatient Service within Ridgeway, Roseberry Park Hospital. The service provides care and treatment to adults with mental health difficulties and complex needs, including Autism and Learning Disabilities. A Band 5-6 developmental post may be considered, dependent on experience (with completion of a Band 5-6 Competency Framework within an agreed timescale).The post holder will provide assessment and intervention for communication and eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties (Dysphagia). The successful applicant will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team, promoting evidenced-based practice, person-centred care, and co-creation. The post holder will hold a degree in Speech and Language Therapy and have experience in Speech and Language Therapy, including experience working with individuals with mental health or learning disabilities with
complex needs. Experience working within forensics settings would be desirable, however support and training will be provided through structured support programmes (preceptorship and competency frameworks), supervision systems, and CPD opportunities.
