About the role

As a Mine Closure Specialist, you will lead and support delivery of mine closure projects with support from SLR’s other in-house technical disciplines. The position offers the opportunity to:
• Apply your experience and knowledge of the mine closure process.
• Actively contribute to growing the size and developing the technical capability of the mine waste team, with respect to mine closure.
• Have a high degree of autonomy in managing your workload and due recognition for your contribution as a mine closure specialist within a multi-disciplinary team working on large and complex projects.
• Develop a specialist team to take on and deliver mine closure projects.
• Work with an extremely capable and experienced team to support you and ambitions for Professional Development.
• Develop meaningful and genuine relationships with colleagues and Clients.
• Establish and elevate your reputation amongst a team of international professionals, with potential to become a recognized leader in mine closure, within a diverse, well-managed international business on an exciting and ambitious growth trajectory.
About you:
If you think this could be your next career move, we would love to hear from you. In order to succeed, we would envisage that you would be able to bring/demonstrate:
• Degree qualified (geotechical, civil or mining engineering) and of Chartered status(or eligibility), with substantial relevant Mining/Geotechnical experience, and having undertaken a senior role with a mine closure team.
• Proven ability to lead projects from concept, through feasibility to final design and implementation and to provide sound direction and advice to Clients.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills and strong ability to transfer these skills in preparation of fee proposals, engineering reports, design specifications and design drawings.
• Good working knowledge of mining industry standards such as GISTM, ANCOLD, CDA, etc…
• Excellent project management skills.
• Demonstrate good technical ability in mine closure .
• Demonstrate experience in the application of industry standard guidance.
• Demonstrate leadership within a consultancy business.
• Be proficient in business, Client and project development, and self-sufficient as and when projects require it.
• Well-developed creative, lateral thinking, sound judgement, resourcefulness and problem-solving skills.
• Be motivated to pass on your knowledge by mentoring and managing junior staff.
• Must have a full driving licence, valid in the UK.
