My client in the Croydon area is seeking a Design and Development Engineer due to expansion.

About the role
We are currently looking for a Design and Development Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will provide Mechanical Engineering expertise, supporting the operational activities of the company in meeting order book requirements and providing technical support to maximise sales opportunities and enhance customer perception of the capabilities and responsiveness of the company. Your focus will be on identifying, evaluating, and, where agreed, implementing new product and product/process development opportunities.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role you must have a minimum HNC and/or equivalent experience working in an engineering discipline (ideally solid background in mechanical engineering in a relevant field). You will have a good understanding of Materials and Mechanical properties, material selection and testing as well as an understanding of Manufacturing and Production methods - general assembly, welding and brazing, and non-destructive testing. Experience of interfacing with customers on a commercial and technical level is a must in this role; therefore, you will be a well-organised, strong communicator with good people skills and the ability to work to schedules and meet deadlines.

Mechanical engineering: 3 years (required)

Materials and Mechanical properties: 3 years (required)
Working hours: 5 days per week (37.5 hrs), Monday to Thursday 8.00AM-4.45PM, Friday 8.00AM - 12.30PM
