The Role:
We are looking for an Engineering Fleet Tradesperson to join our team. This role will involve the installation, troubleshooting, repair, recovery, and maintenance of designated fleet assets, such as light commercial vans, HGV trailers, and site trailers. You will play a key part in supporting the achievement of the department's business goals while maintaining the highest standards of safety and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform maintenance and servicing on fleet equipment, including light commercial vans, HGV trailers, and site trailers.
2. Conduct repairs and identify persistent issues, ensuring underlying causes are resolved where necessary.
3. Work closely with the team leader to prioritise reactive and planned maintenance to ensure service and repair levels are met.
4. Adhere to RAMS and Health & Safety policies while completing tasks.
5. Participate in long-term preventative maintenance programs and projects.
6. Provide high-level support to colleagues and collaborate effectively with the team.
7. Complete tasks, reports, and service sheets on time and to the highest standard.
8. Ensure workshops and work areas are clean and safe after completing tasks.
Physical Demands:
1. The role is site/workshop-based, requiring occasional lifting, bending, and carrying.
2. Use of hand/power tools in compliance with HAV (Hand-Arm Vibration) guidance.
Special Requirements:
1. Ability to work across various sites as per a pre-determined plan set by the supervisory team.
2. Training will be provided for operating required assets.
3. Full driving licence and basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
Knowledge, Attitude, Experience & Skills:
1. Technical knowledge of light commercial vehicles, HGV trailer maintenance, and MOT servicing standards.
2. Recognised trade-specific apprenticeship.
3. A minimum of 3 years' experience post-apprenticeship.
4. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
5. Ability to manage workload and supervise others when required.
6. Experience in the port environment is desirable but not essential.
7. Analytical skills to evaluate repair information and make quick, effective decisions.
8. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
9. Ability to read hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings.
