SUMMARY:
The role plays an important part of our installation process allowing the installation team to complete our projects in a timely manner. You will be responsible for offloading our products to job sites across the UK, so depending on the site location, there will be a requirement to be away from home during the week (hotels and expenses are provided). You will also be required to coordinate with our installation team regarding placement of the product and build relationships with our drivers and the installation team, as well as customers at the job site. You are expected to work in a safe manner and take all necessary precautions to avoid damage to the products during the offloading process. This position reports directly to the Logistics Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
* Meeting the delivery van on site to offload the material to the correct areas
* CSCS green Labourer Card
* Complete on site or pre-health and safety inductions
* Assess access to site to ensure health and safety can be performed
* Ensuring that all customer orders are complete by cross-referencing the delivery note
* Storing material in the correct rooms, ready for the installation team
* Taking photographic evidence of how the material was stored on site and sending it daily over email, along with a pink sign-off sheet
* Planning the shortest and best routes to the site, taking factors like roadblocks and traffic into consideration
* Doing regular maintenance checks on their vehicle and informing management of any issues
* Driving in inclement weather such as snow
* Any damages whilst unloading need to be informed to their manager for reordering
* Interacting with clients in a friendly and professional manner
* Getting clients to sign the necessary paperwork for sign off
* Early morning starts, to ensure they are on time for the deliveries
* Managing labourers, to ensure they are offloading the material correctly.
QUALIFICATIONS & Skills:
* A clean driving record and a Full U.K. Driver’s licence
* CSCS Green Labourer
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
* Completed CITB Operatives CSCS Green Labourers Card, preferred when applying, but not essential.
* Passed the Health and Safety Qualification preferable
* 1-2 years’ experience preferable
* An ability to concentrate ensuring road safety
* Being able to work well independently
* The ability to remain calm under pressure, for instance, when driving in inclement weather conditions
* Ability to drive long distances
* Good communication skills to follow instructions, work with colleagues and deal with clients
* Good eyesight and depending on the type of goods they’ll be working with, enough physical stamina and strength to pick up heavy packages plus bending and twisting
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Adaptable and flexible and open to change.
* Must be able to identify and resolve problems using sound judgement
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with all internal customers.
* Basic knowledge of computers, handheld devices and relevant electronic applications
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and complete on-site inductions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to carry out ongoing manual work, and on occasions lift goods up to 25kg. Required to read and visually observe with close vision, distance vision and colour vision.
