Job responsibilities
We are currently looking to employ a full-time Forensic, Clinical, or Counselling Psychologist to work either on a Medium Secure Male ward or across a PICU and Acute ward. The role would be suitable for someone who is looking for a promotion into a more senior role with more consultation, leadership, and management responsibility.
Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is an 81-bedded hospital with six wards consisting of a medium secure male ward, one low secure male ward, two PICU male wards, and two acute female wards. In May 2024 the hospital was rated Good by the CQC across all domains.
The successful candidate will join a team comprised of qualified, trainee, assistant, and honorary psychologists. We are seeking a strong candidate to support and enhance the psychological care of patients at the service by assisting the team with:
* Assessments, scoring, and reporting (verbal/written)
* Clinical formulation and implementing care plans for psychological treatment
* Planning, delivering, and evaluating individual/group programmes
* Administration, audit, research, and service development
* Consultation, Leadership, and Management
* Supervision and Training
We are looking for someone who is:
* A HCPC registered Forensic, Clinical, or Counselling Psychologist
* Previous experience within a secure/forensic and/or PICU/ACUTE setting
* Preferably trained in complex therapies such as Schema, CBT, DBT, EMDR
* Knowledge and experience of risk assessments (e.g. HCR-20)
* Trained in specialized assessments (e.g. WAIS-IV, MCMI-IV, IPDE)
* Capable of treating difficulties such as self-harm, physical & verbal aggression, history of sexual offending, and drug & alcohol problems.
