The Technology in M&A team at KPMG is one of the fastest growing and most profitable within Deal Advisory and across the firm. We deal with all aspects of technology, from strategy, digital, apps, infrastructure, cloud, operating models, data, cyber, RPA and post deal implementation & enhancements to reviewing technology spend.

The Technology in M&A team are full of subject matter experts, but that’s not all. We are responsible for providing best in class support with both acquirers and vendors on pre- and post-deal technology issues, our propositions include: Buy side diligence, sell side diligence, separations, integrations, IPOs, synergy, JVs and standing up businesses. We support our clients across the deal lifecycle.

What will you be doing?
The Technology in M&A team at KPMG is a growing and dynamic team. We deal with all aspects of the technology function, from strategy, cloud, digital, technology spend, etc. We work with both acquirers and vendors on pre- and post-deal technology issues.
Our three key client proposition areas are:
5. Due diligence: Highlighting key risks and opportunities in the target’s technology environment in order to ensure that acquirers are aware of key issues that may impact valuation.
6. Integration: Planning pre and post deal to support the client to integrate the technology function and systems into the buyer’s organisation while enhancing value.
7. Separation: Supporting vendors to plan and deliver a credible, discrete standalone entity on Day 1 to the buyer with value preserved and business continuity ensured from a technology perspective including support to define and implement transitional service agreements.
8. You will deliver projects working closely alongside senior members of the team, who will provide guidance and insight in the deal environment. This will provide you with the opportunity to build your transactions knowledge and further develop your technology skills base.
9. Providing insights on technology aspects of the deal that are relevant to the client and readers of the technology due diligence reports and to be able to explain issues simply, highlighting the impact of technology on business strategy, operations and, ultimately, deal valuation.
10. Advising on technology aspects of integration, separation (carve outs) and optimisation initiatives (e.g. synergy analysis) including the development of target operating models, understanding the current technology landscape, defining transitional service agreements, developing detailed plans, and supporting the implementation of such plans.
11. You will support the Manager on both small and large projects in a client facing role. You will be expected to support the management and performance development of junior team members as well as supporting the Manager and Associate Director in day-to-day project activities.
What will you need to do it?
12. 3-6 years’ experience working in a leading strategy house, Big 4 firm, public sector organisation or strategy / development team in industry
13. Strong foundational understanding of the value drivers within Technology
14. Experience of leading project workstreams and take responsibility for small teams
15. Prior involvement in business development activity and ability to contribute to thought leadership and knowledge management initiatives
16. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with team members and broader (internal and external) stakeholders
