The University of Plymouth is looking to appoint a Senior Technician to provide technical support and expertise for projects within the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (SoGEES).
You will have significant work experience within a data analysis environment, can demonstrate an ability to support and assist staff and students in the application of data science techniques and be familiar with at least two of the following: Python; Javascript; R; MatLab and/or Google Earth engine.
Desirable criteria include the ability to take a proactive role in liaising with academic and technical staff to understand existing methods of data collection and suggest innovative data science solutions, experience in one or more of the following: large language model prompt engineering; development of digital simulations incorporating real-time sensor data and big data analysis and experience in the use of unmanned aerial vehicle for photogrammetric data capture, Internet of things monitoring systems and/or geospatial analysis.
There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.
