We have a new position for an Automation Developer to join our growing Software Development Team at Pavers Head Office in York, Northminster Business Park. Flexible working options can be discussed, but we are looking for the successful candidate to be on-site at least 3 days per week. This is a full-time permanent opportunity to join a growing family run business. This is a technically focused role, combining software development and quality assurance to ensure the delivery of high-quality, robust solutions for Pavers’ software systems. Working within an agile/scrum environment, you will collaborate closely with development teams and squads to build, test, and deliver feature-rich applications. Your responsibilities will include both developing and maintaining software applications as well as creating automated testing solutions for desktop, web-based, and API systems, ensuring they align with business requirements and technical standards. Reporting to the Head of Software Development, you will be part of an expanding team that is central to Pavers’ ambitious system modernisation journey. As the organisation transitions towards a cutting edge system estate, your role will focus on both advancing development efforts and automating testing processes to build scalable, reliable systems. The team is highly service-oriented, managing a dynamic backlog of software enhancement requests while developing new features to drive business growth. This role is best suited for a proactive, self-motivated individual with strong prioritisation and planning skills, capable of navigating and delivering complex work in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You will work closely with all areas of the business, contributing to feature development while creating comprehensive test suites. Your work will ensure the delivery of high-value software solutions that meet both immediate and long-term business needs. Key Responsibilities: Assess opportunities for automation and identify areas for improvement within the delivery lifecycle. Prepare and maintain comprehensive test plans and strategies. Conduct continuous testing and ensure timely upgrades. Being highly supportive to users where engagement is required. Develop, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks and tools for functional, integration, and regression testing. Collaborate with development teams to write and review code with a focus on testability, quality, and performance. Contribute to software development tasks as needed, including creating or enhancing system components, tools, and utilities. Assist in debugging and resolving issues during development and post-deployment stages. Support and mentor team members in QA and development best practices. Building strong relationships with Pavers IT customers and members of the IT. Working alongside existing development and support teams to ensure knowledge transfer. Being highly supportive to users where engagement is required. Helping to cultivate positive values and attitude within the team and promote the use of IT in support of the business.
