This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced cardiology nurse to join the Structural Heart Valve Disease team (SHVD). The job holder will be expected to support the SHVD team to care for patients via the percutaneous programme, that includes Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implant (TAVI), TEER, and Tendyne as part of national, Trust, and division structure. They will work with divisions to develop and deliver excellent patient care that align to workforce priorities and bring added value to our staff. While the role will have a focus on specific TAVI and TEER led patient care and staff training priorities, there may be an expectation to deliver cross Trust or other clinical sites training initiatives. There are also opportunities to form strong networks of clinical development that shows the benefit of investment and a sustainable future focused model of percutaneous technology. It is expected that the post holder will actively maintain patient pathway care from referral and inclusive of inpatient and outpatient care. The job holder will be expected to work the hours between Monday to Friday. There is flexibility in how the hours are achieved.
Main duties of the job
1. Act as clinical expert providing specialist knowledge and advice to nurses and clinical teams/staff working within Division and Trust. This will include following service users through both elective and non-elective pathway. There will be inpatient reviews on CICU/CCU/ Cather Laboratory and cardiac wards autonomously and with cardiac consultants and liaising with the wider teams on procedure list days.
2. The Elective pathway will require Triaging patients into the service, MDTs, Pre-assessment and post TAVI/TEER follow up, all clearly documented to facilitate a synchronised care pathway.
3. Communicating with professional leads for nursing, midwifery and AHP and other members of staff across the Trust, including senior clinical staff. Embed evidence-based practice and methods of education that promote inclusivity and diversity.
4. Dynamically support the SHVD team response to new service development demands.
5. Professionally demonstrate transformational and inspirational leadership with responsibility for supervising, leading and managing, as well as overseeing the practice development of the TAVI pathway and staff.
6. Develop high quality learning objectives for clinical, practice development teaching sessions and internal programmes.
7. Use analytical and judgement skills necessary to support delivery of high-quality education.
