The Role We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented and dynamic individual as a Process Technologist. Your core responsibility is to provide timely and fit for purpose technical assurance for the production unit to which you will be assigned. The role will require you to work with and provide advice to the various refinery support and business functions, collaborating with them to support and achieve a sustainably safe, reliable, profitable, and growing enterprise. On a day to day basis the process technologist will work closely with both the operations team and discipline engineers, to proactively identify optimisation opportunities and threats to unit production and our HSE performance. In parallel to this and on a longer term basis, you will be identifying and developing longer term improvements to HSE performance, reliability, profitability, and growth within the unit and across the site’s value chain linking feedstock purchasing through to product quality. Principal Accountabilities Regularly and rigorously monitor, assess and report production units’ short through to long term performance (including catalysts) using the suite of tools. Identify and escalate accordingly process related threats to production and safety such that timely and cost-effective responses can be implemented. Support unit operating teams in delivering production plans through advising on optimisation and troubleshooting. Complete month end data submission including validation of data for legislative reporting purposes. Capital projects support, including identifying opportunities, develop and support commissioning of small / medium sized projects and to provide input to larger / more technical complex projects Initiate, develop, lead technical studies to improve the unit’s performance. Provide technical input to the procurement process including catalysts. Support the preparation and execution of turnarounds, in particular to process scope definition, threat identification and investigation Documentation – the site owner for the Units’ P&IDs’ Area Classification Drawings, Plot Plans, COMAH process description and major accident hazards section COMAH flow schemes, Energy Performance Tracking models’ Process Safeguarding Memoranda, Process Alarm Manager, design data and process guides About You You will ideally have previous experience working in a refining or petrochemical complex, with operational based experience. You will hold a MEng in Chemical Engineering or equivalent IChemE accredited degree(s), having obtained or is working towards Chartered Engineer Status with the IChemE. You will have theability to utilise, interpret and understand large data sets, and use this data to drive decisions for the Company. You will demonstrate the ability to work with internal and external Stakeholders, and influencing change. The ideal candidate will be flexible in approach and to support the Organisation within Turnaround activities, and out of hours support via a duty rota and emerging situations. Will proactively work towards and gain site signatory qualifications within a reasonable time frame of appointment and the ability to work as part of a team and individually.
