If you are enthusiastic and highly motivated, we would like you to join our practice team! We are looking for a phlebotomist to join our Nursing Team for up to 28 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
To provide phlebotomy services to the practice's population of 18,500 patients.
To support the nursing team with room checks, equipment checks, etc. Training will be provided and time allocated appropriately.
Job responsibilities
1. Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
2. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
3. Maintaining accurate patient records on the clinical IT system
4. The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
5. Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
6. Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
7. Maintaining an effective liaison with the NHS Trust laboratory staff
8. Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters

Qualifications
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting
* Competent in use of EMIS
* Primary care experience
