Spicers, a specialty tea company, has been blending tea for over 80 years. The company supplies black, green, specialty, fruit & herbal teas, and offers private label solutions.
We are looking to recruit an Engineering Technician to join the team in Newcastle.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain and improve the safety, legality and quality of products manufactured in accordance with food safety and quality policy.
2. Efficiently maintain all production and warehouse machinery in good working order.
3. Keep the machines and fittings in a clean and hygienic state, ensuring that you and your colleagues follow hygiene instructions and good housekeeping practices.
4. Operate a line regularly, including setting the machine up, running, packing and completing the line checks.
5. Ensure all appropriate servicing maintenance and breakdown information is recorded accurately on the maintenance database. Support the development of the Planned Preventive Maintenance plan.
6. Service production machinery, attending breakdowns and escalating as necessary.
7. Involve in Continuous Improvement activities to drive increase in asset performance.
8. Train Operators and packers to perform basic asset maintenance.
9. Maintain the factory, warehouse and office buildings.
10. Switch all machines in the factory on prior to production and switch them off after production or when required by the Shift Leader.
11. Open up the factory, locking up and setting alarms as required.
12. Observe health and environmental safety regulations.
13. Recommend and look for changes necessary to improve the operation of the department.
14. Order spares in the absence of the Engineering Team Leader.
15. Supervise sub-contractors in the absence or as instructed by the Engineering Team Leader.
16. Assist production staff in any way possible to ensure efficient and continuous output.
17. Work rotational shifts as and when required, including Earlies, lates and nights.
18. Behave in a polite, acceptable and responsible manner.
19. Train new staff as required.
20. Perform any other duties assigned by the Engineering Team Leader, Manufacturing or Technical Manager.

Job Specifications:
* Ideally have experience working on IMA, C51, C23, C21, IMA Case packers, Ilapak fill, Jacob White form and fill machine, Marden Edward over wrappers and Fuso tea bag machines.
* Electrical qualification would be advantageous.
* Self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
* Ability to cope in a busy environment.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Be proactive and take the initiative.
Currently working hours are:
Earlies: Monday to Friday, 630-1430 (40 minutes break daily)
Lates: Monday to Thursday, 1430-2300 (40 minutes break daily); Friday, 1430-2030 (40 minutes break)
However, this is being reviewed and there may be the opportunity of a day shift role. There is also a requirement to work 6 weekends per year (one day either a Saturday or Sunday) by agreement.
