The Role
The Governance Services Team are looking to appoint a full time, term time plus two weeks, Senior Governance Support Officer to join a dedicated team of governance professionals. In collaboration with the Governance Services Manager, the post holder will manage the team of Governor Support Officers and Casual Minute Clerks, including ensuring their professional development and performance reviews needs are met. They will also be responsible for the oversight of a traded service, ensuring that the requirements of an established Service Level Agreement are met.
The postholder will also be expected to support and attend an allocated number of governing and trust board meetings to take detailed minutes of the meeting and support effective strategic governance. The post holder should have experience in supporting the strategic management of schools and trust boards. They will have the ability to present information clearly and assertively and provide support, advice and guidance on governance law and procedure to assist governors, trustees and school leaders in their leadership and management role. Whilst the role offers flexibility within the allocated hours, there will be a need to work some evenings, which can be paid as overtime. The post provides for flexible hybrid working with the team based in a modern office environment with free parking on site.
About You
You should have an understanding and knowledge of the role of governors and trustees within the management structure of a school or academy. Experience in providing support to maintained governing board and academy trust boards in their strategic leadership roles is essential. You must have the ability to work on your own initiative and be able to demonstrate outstanding planning and organisational skills in the management and development of a team of experienced governance support officers and casual minute clerks.
