Job summary
We have a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant position in our busy and thriving Outpatients department working across both High Wycombe and Amersham Hospital, as part of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensure clinics are prepared and ready in good time, to ensure an efficient professional service can be provided.
2. Communicate with patients and their visitors in order to promote their comfort and well-being
3. Communication with other members of the organisation and respond appropriately
4. Perform basic observations, BP, pulse, height, weight, urinalysis, peak flow, blood glucose monitoring, reporting and recording results accurately.
5. Assist with collection of specimens for laboratory analysis and or collect specimens as directed, forwarding to correct location.
6. Act as a chaperone when required to protect the interests of patients and colleagues, and preserve the patient's privacy and dignity.
7. Act as a patient advocate.
8. Manage own workload and prioritise own actions in the work place.
9. Staff are able and expected to work across multiple specialties, so that all areas can be covered if the regular nurses are absent Annual leave/sickness.
10. Assist with manual handling and transferring of patients complying with the Trust Moving and Handling policy
11. Report Accidents/incidents to nurse in charge and complete appropriate Trust forms.
12. Direct patients to other Wards/Departments as required
This is a cross site working role between both High Wycombe and Amersham hospital

Essential
13. GCSE A-C Or Functional Skills in English and Maths (Level 1 or 2)

14. Care Certificate in healthcare (Level 3)
EXPERIENCE
